Value Proposition of E*PAD:

  • To Students: Previously, a student’s record consisted of two things: grades on a transcript and standardized test scores.  E*PAD is able to compile the work of students in writing, math, science or art, and thus represent a more vivid record of what they are able to do.  However, a student’s best demonstration of reasoning and learning ability may be a three-dimensional model and hence best captured under videotapes  and other multimedia, which E*PAD allows for.  This web-based system enables the student at anyplace, anytime to follow his / her learning progress throughout his / her years of study. It helps the student process the feedback he / she receives from faculty, external assessors and peers. It also enables her to look for patterns in her academic work so she can take more control of her own development and become a more autonomous learner.
  • To Teachers: Likewise for teachers, E*PAD becomes a solution for their productivity by enabling them to streamline their responsibilities with the automation of their lesson plans, aligned with their curriculum, and broadcasting of assignments to the entire class.  It also captures not only records of improvements in performance of students under tutelage but also performance of the teacher in class via videotapes (imported digitally), which can be used for self-assessment.
  • To Schools / Administrator: For schools, E*PAD helps to create records to measure the performance of the school against its goals as well as adherence of changes in school’s curriculum to the new educational standards under NCLB.
  • To Parents: With the underlying changes in education, parents now want to be more involved in their children’s development. E*PAD allows parents to review their current child’s current and prior work on-line.

 

  •  Accountability and Yearly Progress in Student’s Outcomes: A prerequisite to accountability is an accurate snapshot of school/teacher performance, and thus a heavy reliance on data collection records and reporting that showed students’ participation and progress and teacher’s and school’s performance.  As explained above, E*PAD creates this records in a three-dimensional manner.
  • Behavioral Assessment: (Helping students understand, accept, and value differences in behavior and how they affect one’s relationships). Newer parts of the “NCLB” require schools to deliver a sound and safe environment for students to learn. Structured Behavioral Assessment through “E*PAD”, will help teach students the importance of good character traits as integrity, fairness, respect and citizenship. This will enhance a classroom environment that encourages students to respect one another while promoting effective learning

 

  • Program and Curricular Alignment with Standards: Educational providers must update and enhance school’s curriculum under the NCLB legislation.  The standards established by NCLB can be uploaded into E*PAD database and school administrators can design the new curriculum against the new standards, store the curriculum and tick the checkmarks for adherence to new standards using E*PAD, thus saving considerable amount time and paperwork.  Additionally, E*PAD contains built-in features that allow teachers to use rubrics when creating assignments or tests.  These rubrics do not preclude narrative remarks from teachers.  Rubrics are tools that analyze students’ thinking process and can improve student performance, as well as monitor it.  The result is often marked improvements in the quality of student work and in learning, thus allowing schools to better demonstrate progress in students’ outcomes.  Moreover, the use of rubrics reduces the amount of time teachers spend evaluating student work.
